PLAN FOR 27 AFFORDABLE HOMES

Retirement home 'could become flats'

A RETIREMENT home could be turned into 27 homes under new plans. Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) wants to redevelop the former Butterpark building in Ivybridge and replace it with 27 affordable properties.

PCH, working in partnership with Ivybridge Town Council and South Hams District Council, said it wants to create more affordable homes for the town and is consulting with residents during a pre-planning stage. It said the homes would be prioritised to those with a connection to the area to meet the specific needs of the community.

The proposals involve building a block of eight flats designated for residents with learning disabilities, and creating 12 one-bedroom flats which could be made available for social rent, whilst up to seven two/three-bedroom homes are built and sold for shared ownership through PCH’s sales brand, SO Living.
