Saltash's clash with Plymstock ends even

LADIES - IN Division 5, Saltash A elected to play on the grass courts when they faced Plymstock A.

Saltash's chairman tried to put off the opposition with the smell of fish and chips and when this didn't work tried the "collapsing chair" routine. However, all who witnessed the undignified spectacle were equally affected as the match finished at 46-46.

Saltash laid on some good food of lemon drizzle cake, sandwiches and much more in their quest to get the hospitality of the year award.

When Looe C played Tavistock C, it was a tricky battle valiantly fought by both teams with Tavistock coming out winners 55-40, while Menheniot B beat Tavistock D 72-20.

In Ladies Division 1, Devonshire B picked up their first win of the season, beating Mannamead B 54-42.

Yelverton A had some hard fought points against a strong Mannamead A side. Four tie-break sets by Yelverton's Jane Yilmaz and Rachel Youngs-Pearce weren't enough to stop Mannamead A winning 71-25.

Devonshire's Sarah-Jane Pritchard and Mae Dartnall won the only event for Devonshire against St Budeaux's Toni Lloyd and Kate Gibbons. St Budeaux's Natalie Hepburn and Shannon Shandy were too strong for Devonshire only dropping three games all evening as St Budeaux won 60-29.

In Division 2, Roxy Treloar and her daughter Rosie took the only win for St Budeaux as they lost to Ivybridge A 32-61, while Tavistock A's first pair of Inga Ziemina and Sue Parsons were on top form giving Tavistock a 48-41 victory over Plympton B.

Katrina Borowaski played at short notice for Yelverton B, but they were beaten 72-18 by Plympton A.

Mannamead C met Devonshire C in Division 3. Devonshire were short of players so brought in some juniors including 12 year old Brooke Yeoman, who played her first league match. Both Brooke and Lily Giadrini-Fisher were excellent players, hitting the ball with topspin and power. Devonshire as they had their first win of the season 54-31.
