Schumacher explains his decision to start Pleguezuelo

The Pilgrims went on to keep a clean sheet in a 3-0 win, a result which leaves them in 10th position with seven points from five games going into the first international break of the season.

Pleguezuelo was a substitute for Argyle's first four matches in the Championship but was picked to play against Blackburn because of the strengths of the opposition.

For example, Schumacher wanted the former FC Twente defender to try and combat the attacking threat of Sammie Szmodics, who played in a central position off striker Sam Gallagher.

Scarr still played in the game, as an 82nd-minute substitute, when Schumacher switched to a defensive trio plus wing-backs for the closing stages.
