A PLYMOUTH nightclub is set to have its licence reviewed by city councillors following concerns of what has been described as "serious crime". A meeting of the council's licensing sub-committee will decide the club's fate on Tuesday.
It follows complaints raised by both senior police officers and members of the public. Plymouth police Superintendent Brent Ireland had initially called for the review, stating "the premises (Jesters) were associated with serious crime"
Documentation released by Plymouth City Council ahead of the meeting next week also shows a member of the public who has made representations to the licensing sub-committee.
They allege there has been "constant fights" at the venue, including people using knives, a lack of CCTV on request and the sale and use of drugs "by staff whilst working" They also alleged in that door staff were "violent" and even claimed "sexual acts in a public toilet" took place.
