POLICE with a sniffer dog paid visits to a number of pubs in Saltash in a crackdown on drugs at the weekend.
Various quantities of cocaine were seized after Passive Drug Dog PD Skye sniffed out punters who’d had more than a drink during a Saturday night out. While no arrests were made, anyone who was found with, or tested positive for drugs, was asked to leave and police say they will be dealt with under police ‘slow time enquiry’ provisions.
Joining officers in the special operation on Saturday night was Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez. The pubs involved are members of PAD (Pubs Against Drugs) an organisation which warns punters drug use will not be tolerated on their premises.
As well as stop-searching pubgoers, officers wiped toilets to look for traces of cocaine. While there were positive tests for cocaine at The Railway Inn, Brunel and Ploughboy, no trace of any drug was detected anywhere at Saltash Rugby Club.
