At the start of the second, Linda and Hilary raced to a 4-0 lead before they were pegged back to 4-2, but Linda and Hilary held on. In the final set Ann and Sandy were leading 2-1 but with Linda and Hilary chasing down Sandy's sliced angled backhands and playing some good angles of their own, the set went the way of Linda and Hilary and overall 6-0, 6-2, 6-2.

Roanna George and Katherine Rowe started strongly in the first set against Sandra Fox and Esther Jolliff but Sandra and Esther came back in the second until Katherine and Roanna got back to 4-4.

In the third set, Katherine and Roanna were 3-0 down but then won four games in a row before going on to win 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

Nicky Slight and Jessica Randell overcame the loss of the first set to beat Nicky Trevaskis and Fiona 5-6, 6-2, 6-4, while Alison Miles and Lyn Helliwell got off to a slow start when they played Sandra O'Sullivan and sub-Debbie before fighting back to win 6-5, 6-1, 6-5.

In their second match of the week, Nicky and Fiona played much more consistently, against Sue Gale and Sue Newberry, who weren't on form and the consistent play of Nicky and Fiona saw them win 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.

It was a very close match when Anna Tickle and Alison Goodwin faced Luisa Warring and Sandra O'Sullivan. There were lots of deuces but it was Anna and Alison who won 5-6, 6-3, 6-5.
