F&O position limit raised to ₹7.5K cr

AFTER trying to contain retail traders from betting big on derivatives segment last month, market regulator Sebi on Tuesday raised position limits for trading members, cumulatively for client and proprietary trades in index futures & options contracts by 15x to ₹7,500 crore or 15% of total open interest in the market, whichever is higher. Position limits are calculated on notional value of a contract.

Earlier, it was ₹500 crore or 15% of the total open interest in the market. The direction comes into effect immediately.
