The 28-year-old man, identified as Majid Choudhary, has a criminal background and even spent six years in jail.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Joy Tirkey said at the Gokalpuri flyover around 3.15 pm on July 31, the victim woman, identified as Simranjeet Kaur, was travelling with her husband Heera Singh and two sons, aged 12 and four, towards Maujpur, on a motorcycle.
"The accused was riding his motorcycle, which brushed against the motorcycle of Heera Singh (the husband of the deceased woman) near the Gokalpuri flyover," the DCP said. The accused had a verbal spat with Singh.
