ENERGY Minister K J George said the state government is committed to providing two hours of additional electricity to the district's agricultural pump sets in the coming summer, in addition to the seven hours of three-phase electricity which is currently supplied to the farms.
Speaking during the meeting with all the elected representatives and officials of the Energy Department at Zilla Panchayat Hall in Mandya on Tuesday, George, while reacting to MLC Dinesh Gooligowda's demand that agricultural pump sets require two hours of additional electricity in addition to the existing seven hours of electricity, since the sugarcane crop requires continuous water until the end of March, instructed the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC) authorities to send a proposal to the department.
