EVEN as the countdown is nearing for the year 2024 to end, the year leaves behind bitter memories to think upon for the people of Malnad. The year began with South-west monsoon which continued to pound incessantly both Malnad region and plain areas and wrecked havoc from July to August. Gusty winds coupled with heavy rain paralysed normal life in Malnad. Electric poles leaned on the ground and trees disrupting power supply. Paddy fields and coffee plantations were submerged in water.
