Young talents brought characters to life on stage, loud applause echoed through the packed auditorium of Tagore Theatre. The high school drama competition kicked off on Sunday at the festival's third venue, drawing an enthusiastic and overflowing audience. By 9:00 am, the theatre was full, with many even seated on the floor to watch the performances.
The competition, initially scheduled to begin at 9:30 am, started an hour late. Yet, it still attracted many drama enthusiasts from the capital and across the state.
From contemporary issues to timeless themes of the drama stage, students explored a wide range of topics through their performances. Subjects such as women's issues, caste, reservation, social media, fascism, same-gender love, and religion took center stage. The competition was more like a reflection of society, featuring everything from a satirical presentation on issues within AMMA, the organization for Malayalam film actors, to themes surrounding Vinesh Phogat's disqualification from the Olympics.
