THEY BOTH share the same surname but Vylopilly Sreedhara Menon and Vylopilly Narayanan Kutty do not share the same family lineage. What they do is the love of poetry and a talent to create lyrical attractions that infuse words with music. For 35 years, Narayanan Kutty has been writing songs for Kalolsavam events. Whether it be the finesse of Bharatanatyam or the grace of Mohiniyattam, the agility of Kuchipudi, or the peppiness of folk dances, his words have reflected them all in keeping with the tradition and norms of the respective art forms. This year, however, he claims he has scaled down his output.
