The incident occurred outside Jayanti Vakil's Chali, opposite K.K. Shastri College, where miscreants damaged the statue by breaking its nose and glasses. Local passersby discovered the statue's nose damaged. As the news quickly spread, angered residents staged a sit-in protest.

Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani condemned the incident and warned about launching a fierce agitation if swift action is not taken.
