Flyover scam: PIL against Stalin, Ponmudy withdrawn
The New Indian Express|November 13, 2024
A public interest litigation petition seeking to restore the case against Chief Minister MK Stalin and minister K Ponmudy regarding alleged scam in construction of flyovers in Chennai during the 1996-2001 DMK government was withdrawn by the petitioner on Tuesday.

The counsel for the petitioner sought the court's permission to withdraw the plea as the petitioner, Manickam Athappa Goundar, a Coimbatore-based entrepreneur and activist, was not willing to pursue it for personal reasons.

Subsequently, the first bench of Chief Justice KR Shriram and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy allowed him to withdraw the PIL, and permitted him to take back ₹1 lakh deposited as per the court's direction to prove his bonafide intention in filing the case.
