SC asks Bengal govt why steps to install CCTVs in RG Kar hospital 'so slow'

THE Supreme Court on Monday questioned the West Bengal govt as to why it was slow in installing CCTVs and measures to ensure better safety for doctors in govt hospitals across the state.

"What steps have you have taken to install CCTV cameras, construction of toilets, creating male and female duty rooms, biometrics, etc," a threejudge bench asked.

Taking suo motu cognisance in the brutal rape-murder of a 31year-old resident doctor in the R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, was hearing the case.
