SC stays disqualification of six HP House secys

THE Supreme Court on Friday stayed the disqualification process of six chief parliamentary secretaries (CPS) of Himachal Pradesh appointed by the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government last year.

It stayed the high court's direction declaring the power to appoint chief parliamentary secretaries and parliamentary secretaries in the state as unconstitutional.

The HC had on November 13 quashed the appointment of six CPS and termed the law under which they were appointed as "void".

A two-judge bench comprising CJI Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar said there will be no further proceedings under the high court order quashing the appointments.
