The Swiss ambassador highlighted India's ongoing Act East policy and importance of northeastern states of the country. "Switzerland is listening to what regional governments in India are doing," he said.
According to him, the objective of his visit to Sikkim was to identify common interests with the state government with a vision to bring Swiss investment in different sectors, and vice versa.
"The potential of Swiss investment coming to India is huge. The objective is to bring Swiss businesses already operating in India and to learn about the state government's vision too," Dr Heckner said.
He further said that two sectors has been identified in line with the interests of the state government--climate adaptation mitigation and sustainable infrastructure.
