The road ahead for Arvind Kejriwal
The Statesman|April 09, 2023
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has grand plans for himself and his young party. Going step by step, his party is in an expansion mode. AAP wants to test its strength in the forthcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram.
The road ahead for Arvind Kejriwal

Politics has changed in the past ten years. The Congress is shrinking, and the BJP is growing nationally. AAP has grown beyond recognition. Kejriwal has always been an ambitious man. In 2014, he contested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi but lost.

The AAP's political journey has seen dramatic twists and turns in the past ten years. Born from the India Against Corruption movement, the AAP decimated the Congress in the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections. After that, it came to power in 2015 and 2020. But Kejriwal remained subdued for some time.

After the recent Gujarat elections, the Aam Aadm iParty (AAP) has qualified to become India's ninth national party within a decade of its formation. It has no Lok Sabha MP but boasts 10 members in the Rajya Sabha. It is the only party other than the Congress and the BJP to control power in two states, Delhi and Punjab.

The Samajwadi Party, JD(U), Telugu Desam, Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi couldn't move beyond their turf. Also, NCP, TMC, CPI, and BSP face derecognition.
