At a time when the Centre is going for massive disinvestment of Central Public Sector Undertakings and there is a general belief that private sector firms in any field do better than there counterparts in the government sector, two thermal power plants, namely, Bakreshwar and Santaldih, under WBPDCL have ranked first and second in power generation in the country in 2022-23.
Bakreshwar, with 1050 MW capacity, ranks first in the country with Plat Load Factor (PLF) at 92.38 per cent followed by Santaldih with 500 MW capacity which ranks second with PLF at 91.37 per cent.
These two thermal power stations are far ahead in terms of production than SPL- Sasan UMTPP (Reliance Power), Jojobera TPS (Tata PCL), Nabha Power Ltd Rajpura TPP (Larsen and Toubro), Dahanu TPS (Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited).
