Flexible work arrangements vital as S'pore population ages

More could be in caregiving roles and supportive workplaces needed, says Gan Siow Huang

As the population in Singapore continues to age and more people are likely to find themselves in caregiving roles, it has become increasingly important for flexible work arrangements to be an available option.

This was one of the observations made by Minister of State for Manpower Gan Siow Huang at a dialogue between representatives of the Government, unions and employers on Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests (TG-FWAR) held at Furama City Centre on Feb 20.

She said: "It is our duty to create an environment that is supportive, so that those people who want to work can continue to work." Ms Gan was one of three panellists at the dialogue. The three are also the co-chairs of a workgroup formed in 2023 to develop a set of guidelines to facilitate the implementation of flexible work arrangements (FWAS).
