Jittery Waring hangs on to Abu Dhabi lead
The Straits Times|November 10, 2024
Paul Waring saw his lead cut to a single shot after he carded a one-over 73 in the third round of the Abu Dhabi Championship on Nov 9.

The 39-year-old Englishman had started the day with a five-shot advantage after he broke the course record with a 61 in the second round at the Yas Links course.

His 18-under 198 total left him one clear of Denmark's Niklas Norgaard (69), with England's Tommy Fleetwood, Dane Thorbjorn Olesen (both 71), Irishman Shane Lowry (66) and Swede Sebastian Soderberg (68) tied for third on 15 under.

Rory McIlroy, who is bidding to seal another Race to Dubai title on the DP World Tour, carded a 69 and was tied for 13th - five shots back of the leader.
