The Straits Times|November 17, 2024
Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) will provide the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with up to 50,000 test kits for mpox to help combat the ongoing outbreak in the continent.

The ministry will provide a support package consisting of diagnostic kits and testing supplies, MOH and Africa CDC said in a joint statement on Nov 15.

The outbreak has affected 19 African Union states as at November, with more than 12,000 confirmed cases in the continent in 2024 so far.

The increase was mainly driven by outbreaks in African states such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi.
