Meghan's anguish
January 12, 2025
|The Sunday Mirror
PRINCE Harry and wife Meghan hugged victims and emergency workers as they visited two suburbs of Los Angeles that have been devastated by the fires.
The Duke and Duchess handed out food parcels to disaster victims before speaking to shocked residents and rescuers and offering comfort.
Last night the death toll stood at 11, with at least 13 officially missing.
More than 150,000 people have been forced to flee their homes and businesses since fire broke out on Tuesday, and more than 12,000 properties have been destroyed.
The Sussexes visited wrecked homes in the fire-ravaged areas of Pasadena and Altadena on Friday and met folk who had lost everything.Mum-of-two Meghan, 43, who wore a blue LA baseball cap, spoke to Doug Goodwin, whose home burned down.
She and Harry, 40, also met Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of Californian governor Gavin Newsom, and chef José Andrés, founder of disaster aid charity World Central Kitchen, who were giving away free food.
It is understood the Duke and Duchess have invited pals who were forced to evacuate to their Montecito mansion, some 90 miles away.
Their Archewell Foundation has given money to the relief effort and the couple have donated clothes, kids' items and other essential supplies to people affected.
And a source last night revealed Harry and Meghan are committed to further supporting recovery and rebuilding efforts, with additional trips to the area already planned.
