THE Duchess of Edinburgh has encouraged girls to reach for the stars by hooking them up to the International Space Station for a chat with an astronaut.
Sophie, 59, the new Girlguiding Patron, was joined by more than 100 Brownies, Guides and Rangers as she used a special microphone to make radio contact with Sunita Williams as she floated 270 miles above Earth.
She thanked the American astronaut for inspiring young girls to "pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics" and asked if she had any advice for them.
