New UGC norms on fee refund to benefit many students from state

Now, withholding original certificates and failing to refund fees to students who have withdrawn their admission will cost higher education institutes (HEIs) dearly.

Hyderabad: In fact, they might even lose their affiliation or university status, thanks to the University Grants Commission latest guidelines issued this month.

Following several complaints that it received on this issue, the UGC has stated the HEIs can even lose grants if they violate norms. The move, academics said, is likely come as a boon for students from Telangana as they alleged that most institutions in the state violate this norm.
