Jurisdiction Of KRMB, GRMB Still Contentious

Hyderabad: A year after the gazette notification was issued by the Centre, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh continue to bicker over irrigation projects on the Krishna and Godavari rivers and sharing of the waters.

On July 14 last year, the Union Jal shakti ministry had issued a gazette notification finalising the jurisdiction of Krishna River Management (KRMB) and Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) to take over all completed and ongoing major and medium irrigation projects in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The decision was taken by the Centre to resolve the water sharing issues between the two states.
