Mumbai; Around 70% of 250 adult patients who underwent epilepsy surgery at the civic-run KEM Hospital said they were “satisfied” with how it changed their lives.

On World Epilepsy Day on Thursday, KEM Hospital, which is the only public hospital in the state to offer epilepsy surgery at Rs 5,000 as against Rs 4 lakh in the private sector, added two more video EEG (electro encephalograph) machines to strengthen its epilepsy programme. The video EEG test is vital for doctors to ascertain which patient will benefit from brain surgery.
