As AAP names its Guj CM face, sr leader quits

That there has been no power shift in these 47 seats is significant since both BJP and Congress faced major realignments in voter base because of delimitation in 2012.

Ahmedabad: AAP on Friday named former journalist Isudan Gadhvi as its CM face in poll-bound Gujarat, sparking dissent from national joint secretary IndranilNRajyaguru, who quit to return to the Congress. Gadhvi’s choice also upset the supporters of Patidar leader Gopal Italia, who was a key player in the 2015 quota stir and had helped AAP win 27 seats in the Surat civic body polls last year. 

Ahmedabad: Nearly a fourth of the 182 assembly seats in Gujarat have not changed hands from one political party to another since 1998. Voters have shown unshakeable faith in a candidate or a party in these 47 seats which are spread across the state.

The number of such impregnable bastions goes up to a total of 55 seats if one takes into account the past four elections since 2002.
