The deposition of the 69th witness, Sheena’s fiancé Rahul Mukerjea, is currently underway.
The CBI gave the number after the judge said a report has to be sent about cases pending for over five years where undertrials are in jail.
In the 2012 murder case, the first arrests were made in 2015. While accused Indrani Mukerjea and her ex-husbands, Peter Mukerjea and Sanjeev Khanna, have got bail, accused-turned-prosecution witness Shyamvar Rai is still in jail. He was recently granted bail by the Bombay high court but was reportedly unable to furnish surety.
