New Delhi: Congress appeared in no mood to relent, issuing a directive to state units to hold protests at district level on Friday to protest the police excesses against party members and to condemn the BJP government's political vendetta against Rahul Gandhi. A meeting of senior leaders and MPs on Thursday decided to continue with protests as Rahul's questioning by the ED will resume soon.
A delegation of Rajya Sabha MPs led by leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge told chairman Venkaiah Naidu the police used force against the members, while taking them to far flung areas without arrest when they came out to protest.
Submitting a privilege petition, the delegation, comprising P Chidambaram, KC Venugopal and others, urged Naidu to refer it to the privileges committee of the Rajya Sabha for examination of breach of privileges and for further action.
