New Delhi: In the wake of upcoming festivals and yatras, the Centre on Tuesday warned states and Union Territories against potential spread of infectious diseases including Covid-19 through such congregations and advised them to ensure that people taking part in mass gatherings and undertaking pilgrimage are asymptomatic and preferably fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
In a review meeting with states, the health ministry also asked states and Union Territories (UTS) reporting a surge in Covid-19 cases to strictly monitor epidemiological profile of admitted patients and report the clinical manifestations to the ministry, rather than random or anecdotal reporting.
