New Delhi: The party warned of “serious consequences” if the Punjab police were misused as part of a political design.
At a press conference, BJP leaders Adesh Gupta, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Nupur Sharma and RP Singh alleged that the arrest of Bagga by Punjab police was arbitrary and “an act of abduction” as the guidelines set by the Supreme Court were not followed.
The party also said while Bagga was not even allowed to wear his turban, his father was harassed and beaten up by the Punjab Police personnel. Sirsa alleged that a Sikh, a reference to Bagga, has been “insulted” despite Punjab having a Sikh chief minister in Bhagwant Mann. He said since the Aurangzeb era, there have been attempts to silence the Sikh community.
