Currently, Delhi has 1,69,360 EVs on the roads, which helped cut emissions since the EV policy was announced in August 2020. Based on the average battery life and average mileage of two-, three- and four-wheelers, the study estimated that about 1.03 million tonnes of carbon emissions were cut since the policy was announced by Delhi government.
The city can stop around 4.8 million tonnes of carbon from being emitted by the end of the policy's term in 2024. According to Delhi government officials, the first EV was registered in the city in 2006, while they were reflected in the Vahan portal in January 2013.
