New Delhi: The city has crossed another milestone in its journey towards becoming the country's electric vehicle hub. This month saw the number of EVs sold in Delhi crossing the 50,000mark since the August 2020 launch of Delhi government's policy on EVs.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had launched the EV policy with the aim of ensuring that 25% of all new vehicle registrations by 2024 would be environment-friendly EVS. In August 2020, 739 EVs were registered in the city, and then, from September 2020 till date, 50,225 EVs had been sold. This figure is 33.7% of the overall 1,48,854 EVS registered in Delhi so far.
