A 46-year-old man killed his 59-year-old friend, set the body on fire and dumped it in Greater Noida. He committed the crime after his friend came to know that he had fraudulently transferred lakhs of rupees from his bank account.
The accused, Anil, was friends with the victim, Ashit Sanyal, for the last 15 years and they used to go on morning walks together. Anil, an electrical contractor, was aware that Sanyal had received Rs 50 lakh as insurance money after his brother died due to Covid-19 last year. The accused had also roped in his nephew, Vishal (27), to commit the crime.
