New Delhi: PM Modi on Sunday said several modern construction projects undertaken by the Centre are transforming the image of the capital. He was inaugurating the much-awaited Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor.
The Centre, which has borne the project's entire cost of Rs 923 crore, is spending a huge budget to improve connectivity in Delhi-NCR in a bid to reduce the "urban burden" on it and improve the "ease of living" of people, Modi said.
The 1.36km tunnel (see photo), a key part of the corridor, opens to the public Monday.
The PM suggested the tunnel, which he termed a "big gift from the Centre", could be reserved exclusively for pedestrians for four-six hours on Sundays so that they can enjoy the artwork.
None from the Delhi government, except PWD officials associated with the project, was present at the inauguration.
