Teenager confides in friend, cops unearth a body, 4-yr-old plot

Ghaziabad: A police team that had given up on the trail of a 46year-old man missing since 2018 resumed their search after a tipoff four years on and dug out his skeletal remains from the bedroom of a neighbour on Monday.

Chandraveer Singh of Nandgram was reported missing on September 28, 2018, by his wife, Savita. With little leads on his whereabouts and a cold follow-up by Savita, the cops pursued the case for a few weeks and then closed the investigation for lack of evidence. Chandraveer vanished into thin air.

The search got a fresh lease of life when a young man from the colony approached the cops a few days ago and informed them that Chandraveer was most likely murdered by his wife and her lover.

Savita and Arun Kumar, who lives a few houses away, were detained for questioning. As they opened up to their interrogators, the veil was lifted off the 2018 murder that bears stark resemblance to the plot of a movie.

SP (crime) Diksha Sharma told TOI that Chandraveer and Savita got married in 2015 after both their spouses died. Savita had a daughter from the first marriage. A year later, the couple had a son too.
