I started working on insect flight photography in the late 1970s back when you used to put rolls of film in cameras. After some success in publishing articles, life got in the way and photography took a backseat until I eventually stopped altogether. I always vowed to rekindle my passion for photography; and, after a gap of 30 years, I decided it was time to return.
With camera technology's shift to digital during the intervening years, I had to alter the way I worked. The end result is an amalgamation of old mechanical and electrical systems, alongside modern digital technology.
I'm a self-taught photographer and don't consider myself to be any kind of expert, but I've always used Nikon equipment. It's simply what I find comfortable; it's easy to use, and gets the job done.
