7 REASONS TO USE A DEDICATED CAMERA INSTEAD OF A SMARTPHONE

With the ease of taking pictures, combined with the multitude of apps, editing programmes and sharing options, it's easier than ever to capture the world around you. Carrying a smartphone means you'll never need to miss a photographic opportunity again.

So, you might ask why you'd ever want to use a dedicated camera instead of a smartphone again? And this would be an entirely legitimate question. But in my mind, there are still many reasons why a 'real' camera is better than a smartphone, which I'm going to cover in this article. Let's get started now..

1. BATTERIES AND MEMORY CARDS

Modern smartphones have the ability to shoot both stills and videos, with many models even allowing you to shoot in RAW. But shooting RAW images and 4K videos can be pretty draining on the battery. This is where cameras win out.

Firstly, camera batteries are designed to cope with the higher levels of power needed and secondly, they are small enough for you to carry extras when you're out and about. It's true that you could carry a power bank to recharge your phone battery while you're out, but while that's happening you won't be taking any photos.

In the same vein, shooting RAW images and/or video is quickly going to start using up space on your phone's memory. Phones do come with larger storage capabilities these days but it's not just your photos using this space.

Every app you have, as well as the internal software of the phone requires space in the memory. With a camera you can just carry multiple memory cards and swap them out when one gets full.

2. SENSOR SIZE
