"WE FORESEE INDIA AS NOT JUST A CUSTOMER, BUT ALSO AS A PROMISING PARTNER IN THE APAC REGION"
Geopolitics|October 2022
Although Embraer has substantial offerings to India in diverse fields like Defense, Aerospace, Civil Aviation, & Space, etc., particularly in the field of Defense and Aerospace/Aviation, Embraer can help India achieve global exporter status and a critical supplier in the global supply chain, thus also attain its goal of becoming self-reliant, says JACKSON SCHNEIDER, President & CEO, Embraer Defense & Security, in this conversation with GEOPOLITICS.
"WE FORESEE INDIA AS NOT JUST A CUSTOMER, BUT ALSO AS A PROMISING PARTNER IN THE APAC REGION"

Please provide details of Embraer's defense equipment supplied to countries in the region?

We have been quite active in the Asia Pacific and the Middle East region, promoting our products and solutions. As we look across the region, Embraer's A-29 Super Tucanos are operated by the air forces in Philippines, Indonesia, Lebanon and until 2021, in Afghanistan. In Thailand, the Army and Navy operate ERJ135s shuttles for VIP transport.

We see lots of potential in India and the region for the C-390 Millennium multi-role military transport aircraft. Countries will benefit from the multiple capabilities of the aircraft, its outstanding performance and reliability.

In India, Embraer supplied its ERJ 145 platforms for the IAF's AWACS project (NETRA Airborne Early Warning & Control System), which are currently being operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF). These systems were also deployed during key missions such as the Balakot airstrike. Embraer Legacy 600 jets are also operated by the IAF and Border Security Force for the transportation of government officials and VIPs.

What are the latest developments related to Embraer's AEW&C platforms?

Embraer is one of the leading OEMs in the AEW&C arena, and we have the expertise and flexibility to modify the existing aerial platform with the required suite of radars according to the requirements of our customers. Currently, Embraer is working on the P600 AEW&C, which is a next generation aircraft based on the advanced super midsize platform of the Embraer Praetor 600 business jet, delivering superior aircraft altitude, extended endurance, a low altitude cabin environment, and advanced fly-by-wire systems.

What support is Embraer providing for the maintenance of its aircraft in service with the IAF and BSF?
