The killer could be anyone in town. Perhaps we should have paid more attention to the figure we crossed on the stairs up to the victim’s apartment block, but we didn’t know then that we were about to find a body. Now it’s going to take a lot of sleuthing (not all of it legal) to solve the case, and to start we’ll have to comb the victim’s flat, dipping into their address book, computer and kitchen bin for clues.
Shadows Of Doubt is the most open-ended of investigation games. Set in an alternate, cyber-noir late-20th century, its compact city is a procedural nest of homes and workplaces, and also their inhabitants. Every individual is assigned a name, an address and a job, plus unique physical features, a blood type and fingerprints, all of which can be uncovered via conversation, fancy gadgets and old-fashioned breaking and entering.
