Sony’s new VR headset is so close, we can almost taste it. Once we’re done licking it, we’ll turn it on and put it over our heads so that we can enjoy that 4K HDR display, 3D audio, and haptic feedback. While the original PSVR represented an excellent balance between affordability and function at the time, there’s no denying that it’s now showing its age, and its younger brother will instantly become the favourite VR child. But what will we be able to actually play on it? Here’s a selection of some of the titles we’re most looking forward to.
Developers aren't abandoning Sony's first stab at VR yet - this will be available for both the PS4 and PS5 headsets - but two things seem all but guaranteed: one, that dual releases such as this will be the exception rather than the rule; and two, the PSVR2 version will offer the superior experience.
PS4 players may be familiar with the first game, which did an excellent job of capturing the rotten yet beating heart of The Walking Dead (little surprise, given that Skydance was co-founded by the original comic's co-creator Robert Kirkman). The TV show remixed and added to the comics to create its own distinct universe; and Saints & Sinners, in turn, was built around entirely new characters and events. Scavenging and crafting was just as important as knowing when to fight, when to run...and when to creep around nervously, praying you didn't get spotted.
