Hi, my name is Joe Laverick and I’m no longer a pro road cyclist. OK, that sounds like a weird admission, and it’s one that’s not entirely true. As of 1 January, for the first time in four years, I no longer have a pro contract. After racing for MadisonGenesis, AG2R Development and then Hagens Berman Axeon, 2023 is just me alone. I suppose I’m now classed as a ‘privateer racer’ which effectively means I’ve gathered my own group of personal sponsors to fund my own team of one.
