Wiv-Sungod’s shock and awe

Manx International winner Matt Bostock (Wiv-Sungod) will hope to take his excellent form into the upcoming Commonwealth Games, where he lines up for the road race alongside Isle of Man compatriot Mark Cavendish.

Recently crowned national circuit champion, Bostock won the first two stages of the Manx race, and was second in the fourth and final stage behind his team-mate Rob Scott. It was a tough day out over Snaefell which saw Bostock cement his overall win, as well as Wiv take the top five places on the stage and five of the top six places on GC. The stage three-time trial was won by RibbleWeldtite’s Zeb Kyffi, with Scott third.

Bostock also won the points and best Manx rider jerseys, and team-mate Toby Barnes won the red under-23 jersey.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t get a massive result,” said Wiv-Sungod boss Tim Elverson of Bostock’s Commonwealth Games chances. “His belief in himself is what’s changed the most. He was always going good, and he’s made steady improvements. All the moons are aligning nicely for him at the moment. It wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t win something at the Games.”
