Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma entered the record books in T20Is as he became the first player ever to smash 200 sixes. Rohit attained the milestone in India’s Super 8 Group 2 clash of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against Australia. The veteran batter scored a ferocious 92 from 41 balls. His innings was laced with 7 fours and 8 sixes. Rohit owned a strike rate of 224.39. His 92 is now the second-best score by an Indian at the T20 World Cup. It was also the secondhighest individual score by a captain after Chris Gayle’s 98 for West Indies in 2010.
The eight sixes hit by Rohit during his 92-run knock are the most by an India batter in a T20 World Cup innings. He broke the record held by Yuvraj Singh, who hit seven sixes against England in 2007. Rohit also brought up his fastest T20 fifty (19 balls) and the fastest by any batter against Australia in men’s T20I cricket.
Notably, his heroics helped India manage 205/5 in 20 overs. In response, the Aussies went on to lose the match by 24 runs. Australia were restricted to 181/7. India reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024 and will face England.
Here are the batters with the most T20I sixes.
