Conquer the 50-yard bunker shot

With an 8-iron, aim slightly left of target (in this case, the flag). It's harder to sit the hands low to get the loft to point towards the target as we open the clubface with lower lofts.

Set the loft of the club by turning the toe clockwise, and then take your grip once the loft has been added. Now settle the hands nice and low. Problems can occur when players grip the club and then add loft by twisting their hands, as this distorts the grip and the clubface in motion.

Shallower swing

Stand with your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart and lower your hands. This promotes a shallower swing and adds loft, giving you more margin for error.
