BROOS' FLAWED POLICY IS WRONG FOR BAFANA

South Africa run the risk of being uncooked at next January's Africa Cup of Nations finals if coach Hugo Broos continues to put young players at the head of the queue.

He has pursued a policy of trying to build a new national team after the failure of his predecessor Molefi Ntseki to qualify South Africa for the last Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.

Broos' approach was widely applauded, mostly without much examination or consideration as to what a national team should really be all about.

While clubs can set extended goals and rebuild with youth players, at first forsaking immediate success for long-term objectives, this is not the role of a national team.
