Dutch coach Erik ten Hag was chosen by Manchester United's hierarchy to significantly improve the club's fortunes after their worst Premier League season.
Ten Hag left Ajax at the end of the 2021-22 season having restored their pride as one of Europe's top football clubs, dominating domestically in his four years in charge.
The 52-year-old was brought in as the new manager of United to replace interim coach Ralf Rangnick with a three-year contract and the option of a further 12 months. It is a great honor to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead,' he said.
'I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans and I am determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve. It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years.'
