Islington-born Abbott has been on Spurs’ books since the age of seven, but believes that he has found a home from home at Meadow Lane due to the Magpies’ penchant for possession-based football.
In return, the County faithful have welcomed their Premier League recruit with open arms, some even declaring on social media that he represents the club’s best temporary transfer business since Jack Grealish was drafted in from Aston Villa more than a decade ago.
On why Stuart Maynard’s men are a perfect fit for him, Abbott told The FLP: “Notts County have a similar style to Tottenham, so that has helped me a lot. It’s meant that I’ve been easily able to fit in with how the team plays and that the other players have been able to trust me, because I’ve performed the same role before.
“I think, because of the way the team plays, out of all the League Two clubs and most of those in League One, this was always going to be the best move I could make.”
