LEICESTER City star Stephy Mavididi says it’s ‘fantastic’ to have been chosen as the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month.

The 25-year-old winger scored five of the Foxes’ 18 goals in December as his confidence and influence in the all-conquering team grew.

Leicester won six of their seven games in the month and were only denied a clean sweep by a last-gasp Ipswich equaliser in their top-of-the table showdown.

“It’s fantastic to receive the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Award for December,” said the Englishman, who joined Leicester from French side Montpellier in the summer.

“For me, it’s an award that reflects not just my own efforts, but the incredible effort and support of my teammates and manager.

“December was a great month on the pitch for the team, and it means a lot to me to have been able to contribute to that. As a group, we’re all determined to keep that going.”
